Sonder is the term used to describe the realization that every person we meet is an individual with a complex and unique inner world, and our own experiences are just a small piece of the larger tapestry of life. The individuals depicted in the painting are not just abstract figures; they are friends, family, and acquaintances whom I share personal connections with. To experience sonder is to understand that we are all connected by our humanity and acknowledge the beauty and complexity of the human experience, just as the fish in the vast ocean are all interconnected and part of the same ecosystem.
